WE ARE BACK !!!! REVIVAL VINTAGE EYEWEAR.
Shady CHARACTER is a little-known, niche brand that has revived TART OPTICAL's signature work.
The Ruby Slippers was a real antique shop in Manhattan in the 1970s, run by two people, Linda and Steve.
At the time, the antique shop was selling a variety of deadstock items, but they were fascinated by the representative models "ARNEL" and "FDR" released by "Tart Optical Enterprises" and asked "Julius Tart" to manufacture them. The two of them expressed their enthusiasm and "Shady CHARACTER" was born.
The brand was produced for only seven years from the 1970s to the 1980s and then went on hiatus...after many years, it will relaunch with a new system in 2021.
Tammy O'Gara, who has designed eyewear for numerous brands including JULIUS TART OPTICAL and NATIVE SONS, has teamed up with artist Michael Carney to revive the "Shady CHARACTER."
The founders Linda and Steve serve as brand advisors to help develop the collection.
In addition to the reproduction models, we also offer original pop colors and models inspired by the 70s and 80s.
